The project provided support to the pomegranate harvest and provide technical assistance so that producers and small and medium size traders were able to improve their livelihoods through product differentiation (the difference in product quality, variety, packaging and service [logistical]) and access to new and existing domestic and international markets (means to penetrate new markets [buyers] that were not previously accessible because of quality, packaging or service issues. By correcting these issues in this project, Afghan pomegranates were able to enter into the new markets and expand in the existing markets). This program was designed to garner the greatest value for the farmers and traders for the pomegranates produced specifically focusing on the Arghandab District within Kandahar Province. This project will support farmers and traders in adopting export standards and facilitate access to new and existing domestic and international markets. FAF Developments completed the project achieving all the goals and expectations.
