In 2014 FAF’s Director, Guy Ewald, traveled to Mozambique as a volunteer of the United States Agency for International Development-supported (USAID) Farmer-to-Farmer program sponsored by CNFA. There, he assessed existing operations of a commercial lettuce farmer with locations in Inhamizua and Beira, the goal being to map out a plan for production growth and expansion into new markets.
An assessment of current farm management practices allowed for the creation of a Farm Management Plan that covers several years. The plan includes property layout, identification of best land uses for vegetable and poultry production. Information gathered gives the business owner direction to maximize the use of resources during the expansion process.
